Physical Education
Students of all abilities are encouraged to become fully involved and given the opportunity to develop, physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively.
The National Curriculum requirements are met at Key Stage 3 and 4.
At Key Stage 3 there are four areas of activity followed, Games, Gymnastics, Orienteering and Athletics. There is a possibility of Dance being re-introduced for both boys and girls if adequate time and space can be found. For Orienteering there are over 70 control points placed around the school grounds to cater for different orienteering courses. Gymnastics is taught to both boys and girls throughout the key stage.
At Key Stage 4 there are elements of choice, giving opportunities to develop new skills and build on existing skills. All Students follow courses in Fitness and Athletics.
The P.E. Faculty has maintained good links with local sports clubs and has visiting coaches from them to enhance the PE curriculum. Coaches from Manchester City Football Club, Toc H Rugby Club, Aerobics and Self Defence Instructors coming in to work with the students.
In July of each year the School holds its Annual Sports Awards Evening to celebrate the students sporting achievements gained throughout the school year. It has proved to be a very successful evening with more than 200 pupils’ guests and parents in attendance.
Also in July we hold our Sports Day which is a fantastic fun day for our students at the end of the school year.
