Supporting Students with SEND
You can also visit The Local Offer page on Manchester City Council’s website, which helps children, young people and their parents and carers to understand what services and support they can expect from a range of local agencies, including their statutory entitlements.
The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Services (SENDIASS) offers information, advice and support for parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This service is also offered directly to young people. Under the Children & Families Act (2014) it is a legal requirement that all Local Authorities have a SEND IAS Service.
Our SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator) is Miss C. Doherty, and the Inclusion Team can be contacted via the main office or by email:
We have a dedicated Inclusion Department with Learning Support Assistants who work with our young people to help them enjoy learning and succeed in their studies, under the guidance of the Director of Faculty for Inclusion and SENDCo.
The Inclusion Department
We believe that Inclusion is essential in ensuring the equality of opportunity for all learners whatever their age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability, attainment and background. This demonstrates our commitment to valuing the diversity of the Parrs Wood community.
