Revision Tips for Students Created by Parrs Wood Sixth Form students
- Create a revision timetable
- Make sure your revision is strategic, don’t cram loads of work into small periods of time
- Take regular breaks between revision, you will be more productive in the long run
- Make sure your revision timetable includes your hobbies/past times, this will help you to stay motivated and positive
- Test yourself in timed conditions using past papers
- Make sure you get a good night’s sleep, especially before exams. Don’t revise through the night, you need your sleep
- Make flashcards for each topic; put the question on one side and the answer on the other
- Set yourself a goal every day and reward yourself at the end of it, so you have something to look forward to when you finish revising
- Change the subjects you are revising for often, this will help to keep you focussed
- Work with another student who knows the topic well and test each other. This way, both of you will benefit and you can point out each others strengths and weaknesses
- Focus on subjects and topics that you don’t know as well
- Creating mind maps can help with subjects like Science, Geography and History. Mind maps can help you to organise information into ‘easy to remember’ chunks
