Future Choices Programme
Our Future Choices programme is designed to inspire and expand understanding and knowledge of career opportunities and choices.
Key Stage 3
We want you to have explored and discovered the world of work and recognise that different jobs offer different work life balance and rewards. That career paths are wiggly and that you can choose from a range of pathways and a very wide range of careers. To recognise that you have individual interests and skills and that these alongside your qualifications will help you to choose your individual career pathway.
Key Stage 4
We want you to have explored and discovered more about the world of work and developed your interests and skills further. You may or may not know the career that you wish to pursue but will have an idea of the general direction that you would like to go in. This is important at this stage because the choices you make at 16 may influence the path you can follow later e.g. if you decide not to study physics and maths or an engineering qualification it may be difficult to access an engineering course at university or an engineering degree apprenticeship. You will be aware of different recruitment processes i.e. for college or an apprenticeship and what you need to do to make a successful application.
At the end of Year 11 we want you to have considered the different ways that you can move forward after school and select the route that you would like to take, recognising what you will need to do to make a successful application.
