Over the Christmas holidays, my family took a visit to the Jurassic Coast in Dorset to photograph the fascinating coastline and its wonderful, iconic features.
My name is Oscar and I am a Year 11 student studying GCSE Geography at Parrs Wood High School. After studying the unit on coasts and the erosional/depositional processes that form them, I could not wait to see some of these features for myself. During the Christmas break we spent 2 nights in Swanage visiting many coastal locations including Old Harry Rocks, Studland Bay, Lulworth Cove, Chesil Beach, Portland Bill Lighthouse and the iconic Durdle Door.
On the drive down to Dorset we stopped at the iconic Stonehenge, and on the journey back we stopped at Lyme Regis to do some fossil hunting. To our surprise, we found numerous, impressive fossils that we didn’t expect to find, having never been fossil hunting before. Teachers at my school have been very impressed with the quality of the photos and have made me very proud of them. I have carefully selected some of my favourite photos to share with you.
