Transition New beginnings, new ideas & new energy!

There will be a Welcome Meeting for students and parents/carers on Wednesday 24th April 2019 at 6 p.m. This meeting is an excellent opportunity to find out more about the Transition process and will hopefully answer lots of the initial questions that you may have. Prior to this meeting, there will be an informal drop-in clinic in the Sixth Form Common Room between 5.30p.m. – 6.00p.m. for any parents/carers who have specific queries about Transition or who need assistance with any aspect of the Transition process.

We will be visiting Primary Schools between May and June to meet your child’s Year 6 teacher and share key information in order to ensure that the move up to Secondary school is as positive as possible. If there is any specific information that you feel we need to be aware of ahead of these visits, please include it when you return your data forms or contact us directly on 0161 446 8640.

Your child will also be invited to attend a Transition Day on either Thursday 4th or Friday 5th July 2019. This will allow them to experience a typical day at Parrs Wood and will be arranged in conjunction with your child’s Primary school; you will be notified of your confirmed date in the summer term. Please note, we are able to offer further Transition visits for students who have additional needs or are anxious about moving schools; if this is something that you feel your child would benefit from, again please let us know.

Finally, we will hold a Transition Evening on Wednesday 10th July 2019 between 6 - 8pm, beginning with a talk in the hall at 6.15p.m. This will allow you to find out more about our ethos and will also provide the opportunity to meet your child’s Form Tutor and the other students who will be in their Tutor Group.
